The Cultural Cognition Learning Center has been serving the educational community since 1999. We specialize in helping people from non British backgrounds learn in a way that resonates with their cultural diversity.

Dr Mark Lee has served as The Cultural Cognition Learning Center Educational Director since 1999.
Shane Lawrence has served as The Cultural Cognition Learning Center Program Advisor since 2000.
Area of Specialization
Differences in thinking processes which are emphasized by various types of cultures: hunting, agricultural, industrial and post- industrial. Detailed, critical examination of selected scientific studies of cross- cultural cognition.
Topics may include reasoning, mathematical concepts, contextualization, how language shapes thought, and the effects of literacy.

Academic and Professional Employment
- 2005 - Principal, Yanbu International School, Saudi Arabia. Responsibilities include management of staff and school and implementation of standardized American curriculum. A Rapid Teacher Training (RTT) program for new teachers at the graduate level has been developed and delivered this year. Also overseeing the Middle States accreditation process at the school. Principal evaluator for the 2006/2007 implementation of curriculum mapping across three district sites. Positioning of the school within a conservative Islamic community and participation in the negotiation of lease agreements are also featured within this position.
- 2005 Consultant to World University Service of Canada (WUSC). Worked with a consortium of Canadian professors to produce a needs assessment for local educational and civil reconstruction in tsunami affected regions of northeastern Sri Lanka.
- 2005 Consultant to the Ontario Ministry of Education. Served on a Trent based three member team hired by the Ontario Ministry of Education to produce an evaluation of extant models of international and domestic teacher testing. A position paper and series of presentations by team members to MOE stakeholders followed.
- 2004-2005 Administrator, Practicum Program, Trent University School of Education and Professional Learning. Responsibilities include creation of practicum assessment and evaluation procedures, liaising with school board personnel and chairing the Practicum Advisory Team to iterate program processes and goals.
- 2004-2005 Assistant Professor, Trent University. Responsibilities include teaching courses in classroom assessment, program evaluation, international education, and social sciences. Also, implemented a research program in the area of cross-cultural teaching and evaluation that was run out of Trent University.
